Becca collected us from Mooloolaba and we went to Brisbane as she had to collect her Mum, Dad and sisters from the airport. We stayed for a little while then headed down the Gold Coast to Surfers which became our home for the next few weeks. This is where we ditched goon (can you imagine non-travelers faces if we sat round drinking goon) and had lots of home cooked food that we have been craving for the last 5 months =)
With it being a Sunday we headed down to Fisho's which is the local pub/bar by the waterfront where people have the Sunday sessions. This is where we spent every Sunday until we left, drinking $5 cocktails and watching silly people (Harley) jump off the bridge into the water when they were drunk.
The days leading up to Christmas were spent shopping and organising presents, food, drinks etc. Boxing Day we went to Diane and Peter's house for tea with other families we met from the wedding, which was nice and relaxed. We had a lot of good nights out in Surfers, one before Christmas when we met up with our Brazilian friends was especially good, but very messy! Becca's sisters also visited a few times so we had some girlie days and a night where we all went bowling followed by a few drinks and a Wii tournament.
Originally, we were supposed to leave on the 6th January, but after hearing about a festival we decided to change our flight to the following week so we could go to Summafieldayze. It turned out to be a very good move! The festival was wkd, really good DJs and we had a good laugh. Krystal taught us the trick of taking the lid of water bottles so that we could fill them with vodka without the seal breaking, which came in extremely handy =) At the festival they had a "Rave Safe Team' that went round with sun cream and a fan that blew water mist at you, and there were also the 'Poo Crew" that patrolled the toilets to make sure they were not too messy, defo something they should think about doing at home! Overall we had a wkd day, who said that drinking lots of vodka in the scorching heat, whilst bopping around from 11am isn't fun?!
Becca and Jonno had booked to go away on a family holiday to the Whitsundays so due to our flight amendment we had 5 days where we had to fend for ourselves. Becca had asked Harley and Juan to look after us, but it was clearly the other way round! We ended up breaking into a schools swimming pool one night by climbing over the fence, and 'borrowing' our new friend Al the owl (not a real one, just an ornament) that Philly now cares for. Clearly they should not have been asked to look after us!
Hmmm, what else to say... We had a few daytime sessions, nights out, ermmm... oh we also went to a Haunted House that we thought would be ok, but nope we were petrified! Poor Marcus had all 3 of us hung to his arm! We cooked a roast dinner for the boys on our last Sunday and made yorkshire puddings (from scratch!!) as we'd been banging on about them for ages. Unfortunately, they werent that impressed unlike us who thought they were amazing!
On our last day we were packing all our things. We hated every single second of this because unlike Mary Poppins we can only fit so much in our bags. This is when we discovered that we hadn't drank the bottle of Bacardi Becca's parents had bought us for Christmas, uh oh! It was never going to fit in our bags and because we were flying we had no option but to drink it, so we went up to see the boys who were at their new house, and oversaw their work as we sat and drank, good times!
