Our first Christmas away from home was always going to be a bit different, mainly due to it being warm and sunny, but although there is no Christmas like a family one, we still had lots of fun!
Because Sam dresses up on Christmas Eve at home (last year being the famous Christmas tree), she insisted this year be no different. The initial idea was to dress up as different things but due to Dani not being able to find an elf outfit, she joined Sam as a present and Becca was Mrs Claus.
The pictures explain the outfits, which we must say were brilliant! We went into Surfers and had people asking to have photos with us like we were celebrities. We stood under the massive Christmas tree in Cavil for a photo and everyone crowded around snapping away, it was mad! We had a little difficulty drinking because the box stopped our arms from moving properly, however it didn't stop us drinking! We heard a lot of rude comments throughout the night about our boxes and had people asking if they could unwrap us. There were more funny ones asking if we would be under their tree in the morning as well as people shaking us to see what was inside!
We were in the club Bedroom when Christmas Day arrived so after dancing to Mariah Careys 'All I want for Christmas', we left for home as everywhere was closed. On route we thought we would pop in to see the Brazilian boys to wish them a Merry Christmas and show off our amazing outfits. When we got there they were giving out their presents. They had done a Secret Santa where they chose a sensible and silly present, and had to give a little speech before giving it to the person it belonged to. We didn't understand most of it as they were speaking Portuguese, but one girl did translate for us which was nice. On the way home we befriended the taxi driver who was originally from London. Good job we did because when we arrived at the house we didn't have enough money to pay for it, uh oh! Luckily, he let us off the whole $3 dollars we were short, it was Christmas after all =)
Christmas morning we woke up and went downstairs to open our presents and the stocking that Becca had made for us all. We had arranged for 8 of us to spend Christmas Day together so everyone except Philly had slept over ready for the festivities! After we had all opened our presents, Nathan and Krystal made Christmas breakfast- pancakes with berries, cream, chocolate sauce, syrup and ice cream, yum yum!
We got started on the alcohol pretty much straight away with Buzz Fizz followed by shots then onto everything else! Because we are poor travelers, we got simple yet really cool presents for everyone, beer coolers from Bali and Santa hats that we insisted they wear all day!
Around lunch time the girls got busy in the kitchen making the Christmas feast we had planned. Now, when we say feast we are not exaggerating! Due to it being so hot, we decided to go for a buffet style dinner rather than a sit down meal. We made a massive honey and garlic glazed ham, pigs in blankets, marinated chicken and lamb, roast potatoes, pasta, fajita rice, roasted vegetables and other salady bits and dips. We were very impressed with ourselves for getting it all out on time and the boys commented that it was amazing! We did have desserts for after but since we were so full we decided to save them for another day.
Later in the day we went over to the pool, where the girls chilled in the spa whilst the boys tried to do summersaults off the roof, typical boys! Not much else to report apart from the obvious excessive drinking games that we do so well, Nathan and Philly trying to wrestle in our present outfits, completely destroying them, and the ridiculous amounts of shots being consumed, our favourite being skittle vodka, courtesy of ourselves!
Merry Christmas =)
