We stopped in Katherine for the night to re-supply before heading to the WA border and also to watch some of the Tour de France. Unfortunately, our tv tuner is digital and a lot of towns we go to, including Katherine, are still analog. So we didn't get to watch any of the tour.

We went for a swim in the Katherine Hot Springs this morning before leaving town. It was lovely and warm and a relaxing way to start the day. One of the locals was even doing his morning lap swimming down one of the hot spring channels. Beats swimming in a pool.

The previous day I was extremely flattered when the bottle shop man asked me for photo ID when I bought some beer. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with my youthful looks, they just have to make sure I don't buy too much alcohol each day (part of the intervention laws for locals).
