After leaving Jim Jim we headed to Maguk where we walked to the plunge pools at the top of a waterfall. It was a lovely spot. Pretty rocky walk to get to the top and then down into the water but it was well worth it.
We continued onto Gunlom or Waterfall Creek at the south end of Kakadu. This spot had come highly recommended by my brother, Sean. And he wasn't wrong. Initially we swum in a pool at the bottom of the falls. This morning we walked to the top of the falls where there are a few plunge pools. This was a lovely spot with amazing views. We realised this would be a great spot to while-away a few lazy hours - swimming, reading, contemplating. Unfortunately, we didn't bring our lunch or our books despite Sean warning us to do so. We just didn't expect the place to be so beautiful. Anyway, I sent David back down the steep rocky climb to fetch my lunch and my book and we had a lovely time.
In the afternoon we headed back down and out of Kakadu. We would love to return in the wet season and fly over Kakadu to see how different it looks. About 30% of Kakadu is flooded in the wet season and the waterfalls must be amazing when in full flow.
