Just a short blog tonight everyone as we have a long day tomorrow and it's pretty late.
Our last day in Malta and our last tour. We met the driver out the front of our apartment in the morning for our half day tour but on pick up we were told there was only one other couple coming so we would be doing a full day tour. We were happy with that so off we went to get the others.
Our first stop was a little town which reminded us of a trailer park. We were to have a look around while the others, 2 Singapore students, were to be dropped at Mdina. The town was full of jewelers, glass blowers etc. I managed to finally find a replacement wedding ring. It has only taken 2 months.
After and hour we were picked up and taken to Mdina for a little look around while we waited for the boys. We went into the city and grabbed a coffee and cake on the wall as we filled in time.
Our next stop was in Rabat where we visited a grotto that St Paul stayed in when he was shipwrecked on the island. We then went to the catacombs which was great to wander around in. Our first catacombs. They needed to instal some information boards but it was still amazing.
Next stop was HagarQim & Mnajdra monoliths. They are amongst the oldest in the world dating back to 3600 bc. Now that is some old s***.
Our final stop was Blue Grotto. This was what we booked the tour for but unfortunately it was too windy so the boat couldn't take us there so we stopped for photos up top. We watched a girl almost fall off the cliff because she climbed over the small wall for a photo and overbalanced. It was so close to being over for her. The view was amazing and it's such a shame we couldn't go down there. Always next time
We were dropped back home to get changed before walking to a restaurant we booked the day before. For booking 24 hours in advance we got half price off the food so we treated ourselves to steak. Our first since leaving oz. It was divine. Oh steak how I miss you.
With full bellies we returned home to do washing and pack. A week has flown by in Malta but tomorrow on to Italy and a leaning tower. Malta is now number 1 on our favourites list. We'll see you again one day.
