It was another day of ticking over lots of k's. This time we were backtracking to Italy some 350 clicks. In fact I think we are just about averaging that a day for the last 2 weeks. This time though we were hitting the tolls from Arles, all the way to Monte Carlo. It was double the time on the back roads so we didn't have much choice. Now this was the time I wished we hadn't gone the economy car route. We are in a Lancia something or other. It is a 1.3 litre diesel and, well, I can run faster. But I won't get many chances to drive at these speeds for a prolonged period so it was foot down. The limit on the tolls is 130 so we made pretty good time. There's a lot to be said for European roads. Well French roads anyways, they are pretty well built. It was another sunny day so when we pulled in to Monte Carlo it was just about perfect. We parked and wandered down to the harbour. Our first stop though was outside the casino where there was a ridiculous collection of supercars parked. Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, Rollers, Bentleys, Maybachs. It was crazy. We got a few shots as I wiped the drool away and made our way down the hill to the harbour. There we spent our time looking at all the superyachts and marveling at how the other half live. The place definately reeks of money. With that we headed back to the car as the sky started to darken. We left behind France (very sad, we love the country) and made our way in to Italy. You could see the difference in which country has the more money as the buildings and roads of Italy are in need of repair. The heavens opened as we drove along finally making it to Virazze. There we had a feed of crepes before a quiet night in relaxing. That's our second time we have done 3 countries in one day. Nothing too exciting about Viazze though.
