So here's our drama. The place we are staying is right in the heart of the city. Unfortunately it is in a very sketchy street. We have peep shows, strip clubs and brothels all around the hotel. There are scummy looking groups and lots of dodgy men hanging about in the streets. Last night we watched a fight between 4 people out our window. We have implemented an "in before dark" policy so we don't have to deal with them. During the day no probs but we won't be venturing out past about five. It's weird because once you walk about 3 mins it totally changes and you are in the city centre with a nice atmosphere. But this isn't the only hotel here, in fact there are a few nice looking hotels around. All they really need is a police presence I guess. Anyway we'll be smart about things and will be fine. It is quite funny watching all the guys doing the walk of shame as they keep their heads down and duck into the various establishments.
To make matters worse Jac was attacked by bed bugs. Urgh! They even had a nip or 2 out of me. I managed to catch a few and first thing this morning we headed to reception. We handed them the critters and showed the bites on Jac. The staff were very apologetic, as they should be, and changed our room. They said that the place was fumigated earlier in the year and we had been the first to complain. I told them we will swap rooms but if it happens again tonight we won't be staying any longer. Bed bugs are not really a sign of dirtiness as the place is very clean. Unfortunately with so many people traveling nowadays the bugs travel as well in luggage. Anyway we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see how we go tonight.
I now have Skype video on the iPhone which is exciting and long overdue. We had a video chat with the Henderson's which was fantastic. So glad to see friends face to face. We then headed out for lunch and ended up at the movies. Watch Disney's new movie Tangled. Based on Rapunzel it was a laugh and we both enjoyed it. Guess we are both just big kids.
We then grabbed a few things from the supermarket before hurrying home before the policy came into effect. Back in safety Jac made a nice dinner of ham and cheese sandwiches and some apple pie. We settled in for some German MTV and Internet surfing.
I will set my alarm for early hours and check if there are any bugs around. I really hope not as Jac is going through hell with the bites. She needs a good rest and we really don't want to jump up and down and change hotels, even though this one is a bit dodgy. Nothing worse than being in a scenario like we are in but at least we only have a few days to go.

Jill Pantlin It's a shame that the hotel is not nice. Keep your luggage away from the bed or you'll take the bugs with you. Looking forward to face to face. xx
