Viva la France! Here we are in the south enjoying the sun. An awesome 26 degs today. I miss you sun, I really do!! We had an early start from Dublin as we had to drop the car back so we were up at 4.45am, or better known as stupid o'clock. We dumped our ride and checked in for the flight. We managed to grab the front seats so plenty of room but she was a bumpy old flight. Lots of turbulence. We landed on time and after grabbing our luggage headed out to the taxi rank. Unfortunately there weren't any and had to wait about an hour for one to come get us. Finally we made it into the centre and checked in. Thankfully our concierge spoke English so we got in our rooms drama free, then headed back in to the town for some lunch. Nobody else seems to speak English but we managed to order lunch with lots of hand gestures and laughter. Our waitress was very sweet and tolerant with us. Well worth while because the food was amazing. Then we went for a wander through the winding narrow streets as we found new places to explore, although it was very quiet for a Saturday arvo. We grabbed some cakes and found a lookout onto the French countryside below us & indulged our fatness as we savored the view. We then continued to explore until we were chased back home by big thunderstorms. Then it was time for a snooze while we waited for the rain to clear. We are staying right beside the 14th century cathedral that towers above the city. It is an imposing structure that provides amazing photo ops when it is lit up at night. Maybe tomorrow night we will remember our cameras. Not a bad first day in France.
