As we were packing up from our overnight stop over at Waroona Dam a school group arrived to do some canoeing on the dam, little did they know what they were in for. We needed some wood, as we had planned on cooking dinner in the camp oven. No sooner had we stopped and collected our firewood the skies opened up, we hadn't seen this much rain since we had left home.
We drove up the coast road for a tour to Mandurah and arriving at the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park and yes it was still pouring. We had lunch inside the bus, with the rain and the massive mosquitoes before deciding we didn't want to cook dinner outside and get eaten alive. On the road again after lunch only to find a great camp up in the mountains, with not only rain but fog at the Coalfield Road Rest area which is 13km east of South West Hwy/Coalfields Road junction.
The rain started to subside enough where Alan could get the fire going to cook up dinner and OMG what a dinner it was.
