We arrived in Carnarvon.
Carnarvon:
Ø Is the only town in Australia where the central desert reaches out to the sea.
Ø It's One Mile jetty is one of the longest jetties in WA.
Ø Supplies 70% of WA's winter vegetable requirements
Ø OTC dish (Earth Tracking Station) was built in conjunction with NASA in 1966 and was involved in the Apollo space missions.
We scouted around the town before shouting ourselves out to a lovely seafood lunch. We free camped north of Carnarvon again in a lovely gravel pit.
Saturday morning saw us back in Carnarvon for the local market, we picked up some lovely produce and ate a massive Church burger (with the lot) for breaky.
We visited the OTC (Earth Tracking Station) which was closed down in 1975 but there is a very informative museum there. We did a trip to the moon in the Apollo 11 simulator.
Alan decided he like Carnarvon, for the fact, the town has no traffic light. Someone always gets the red ones.
Carnarvon has introduced us back to cloudy days and long pants. :-(
