We arrived at Liz and Paul's place where we enjoyed their great company and Liz cooked up two fantastic curries.....We spent the evening catching up and talking about our trips up north and what we plan on doing in the future....We said our good byes that night as they were both heading off to work the next morning and we were moving onto Kelly and Damian's...
We pulled into Bruthen to go to the bakery for some bread and as we were heading back across to DABUS, this woman made comment on how good our set up look......We explained we were on our way back home after 5 1/2months on the road.... She asked where was home "Rye" we replied...She was from Rosebud and had recently bought up that way and had work at the Cafe. She asked if we lived off Grandview!!!! Yes we reply... the penny then dropped...She is a granddaughter of a guy that lives at the end of our street, Ted. We had met previously when she was looking after her grandfather, as Jack our old staffy, would wander down to Teds place, if no-one was around. Ted always had the door open for Jack..... It's a small world...
Onto Kellie and Damians near Nicholson, where they have recently moved to. They are on a property with acreage and they can keep all their horses at home with them...We went into Bairnsdale the first day to get supplies. We had a great afternoon and night catching up with all the family....The next day was a lazy day for all of us, Kelly had come down with a bug. Damo cooked up yet another great dinner..
The next morning we said our goodbyes and headed over to Duck Arm...We put the boat in the water..The boat was then moored at the jetty for the next four days, which was fantastic, as whenever it wasn't blowing a gail, we would just walk down to the boat and go for a fish...Again we didn't get any fish...Locals say the water is still too cold....We spent our days, going for walks, getting some washing done, washed and polished DABUS and chilling out watching Bathurst.....It is a really relaxing place...A huge thank you to Paul and Lisa for allowing us to stay at "The Wright Spot"
Monday, after loading the boat back onto the trailer, we went into Port Albert. Here we stopped for lunch and decided that due to the strong winds and rain that it wouldn't be a pleasant place to stop. We continued on the South Gippsland highway and pulled in for the evening at a very lovely rest area beside the Franklin River.
We have decided to head home due to the shocking weather conditions.....First stop was to get DABUS's rear suspension checked out at Rowville....Then onto Sheree & Lances home to park up......Our feet have hit the ground running.....catching up with family and getting buses, car's, gardens etc all organised.......
It has been yet another great trip.....great adventures, meeting both new and old friends in our travels.......
Here are some facts on the trip:
Total kilometres travelled 15,598
Diesel cost: $3,040.00
Average Litres per 100kms 14.9
Accommodation cost $300.00
Thank you all for tagging along with us on this 2016 DABUS tour.....
