Saturday- after getting up fairly early we went to seethe world's rarest kiwi - the rowi. There is a breeding programme in franz Josef, as this area is only place that this kiwi is found. We saw some 2 month old kiwis in a pretend habitat, where they will stay until they are 1 kilo, then released to a predator free island until they grow too big to be eaten by stoats.
