Friday:- After a good nights sleep we headed across central Otago towards Dunedin, our final destination planned as the Otago peninsular. We drove for about 2 hours before we found a town that had a coffee shop, by this time we were gagging for a nice long latte - we told you left was hard round here! We had coffee in a town called Gore - and the next town was called Clinton, we both had a chuckle about that. We reached Dunedin in the afternoon and after a quick drive round this very Scottsh city and a trip to the i-site (where we even heard bagpipes!!) we'd had enough of cities and drove onto the peninsula. The peninsula is very small, but very hilly, with great views of hills, bays and little inlets and we were gobsmacked by the views and the birdlife. We drove to the end of the peninsula - tairaora head - to see the northern royal Albatross colony there , the birds were huge with a wingspan of up to 3.5 metres, and driving round the rest of the island we saw seals and various gulls, ducks, black swans and wading birds.
