Tromso is the first stop on our Southbound journey and is still well inside the Arctic Circle. This morning continued the "dull and dismal" theme with mist and clouds obscuring much of the view and we feared that the day would not change. First things first! The weather was awful - mainly rain and wind. It apparently snowed at the North Cape lunchtime and then proceeded to rain, with high winds blowing straght down from the Arctic! The temperature when we arrived was One Degree Celsius! The Globe is situated about ten yards from the edge of a very high cliff and there is a fence to stop visitors walking (or being blown) off the edge. Well, we crossed the Arctic Circle earlier today and we now have four days of perpetual daylight ahead of us. We are sailing along between the Lofoten Islands and the Norwegian coast on a fairly calm sea on a bright but cold day. The weather for tomorrow is a bit changeable, but, we heard that there was snow at the North Cape a couple of days ago and that there was quite a big snowball fight on one of the cruise ships! By dull, I mean the weather! We docked in Kristiansund at about midday with heavy cloud cover, although it was still quite warm. Our trip today took us under the fjord and into the second deepest tunnel in the world - the deepest one is also in Norway! We travelled along the Atlantic Highway and over some amazing bridges with a short stop for photos. What a day! We stayed up quite late last night watching a show and then had a couple of drinks to finish the day before going off to bed. Les set the alarm and it duly sent off at 6.50. Getting dressed, I put my watch on and noticed that it was gone 8 am! :es had forgotten to put the clock forward, so we had quite a rush to catch the bus which left at 8.15.
