First things first! The weather was awful - mainly rain and wind. It apparently snowed at the North Cape lunchtime and then proceeded to rain, with high winds blowing straght down from the Arctic! The temperature when we arrived was One Degree Celsius! The Globe is situated about ten yards from the edge of a very high cliff and there is a fence to stop visitors walking (or being blown) off the edge. We managed to get our photo taken at the Globe and, about two minutes later, you couldn't see it from five yards away. Still, a very worthwhile trip with dramatic, rugged, landscape which still had snow on it. This is the home of the Sami people - Nomads who follow their herds of reindeer down to the coast. How they survive up in this wilderness is anyone's guess, but they do! There is a very good film of what it is like when the sun shines, but, the cruel beauty of this landscape is what draws you back. It's cold, inhospitable, barren and will trap the unwary. At this time of year, the sun does not set. Nevertbheless, it's a beautiful place and I would love to come back on a better day.
Tromso tomorrow with a city tour and a cable car ride.
