This was the 2nd time we had gone through Port Douglas and would be our 2nd and final attempt to see cane toad racing…. Yes, you heard correctly, Cane Toad Racing! When we went last time it was cancelled due to the stupid State of Origin being on….boooo! This time, however, it went ahead yayyy……it was the only reason for us going to Port Douglas haha. It was hilarious! Everyone gets a numbered ticket at the door, when you enter, and if your number is drawn then you come up and get a toad to race. There was one English chick who got called up and she was petrified of the toad, she really didn't want to touch it so it kept hoping out of her hand and jumping around everywhere. Once they had called up six competitors they were then all given party horns that uncoil and make noise when you blow it. This was their jockey "whip" and they needed to use it to make the toad jump off the table, then pick him up and put him in a bucket (none of this hurts the toad in any way!). There were prizes for the first three into the bucket. We didn't race unfortunately but, it was still hilarious to watch. Great Aussie entertainment!!!
