Had a nice long lie in this morning - needed it after a lot of early mornings! When we eventually surfaced we walked to the train station (just up the road according to David...in the blazing heat and not knowing where your going in a huge foreign city, 'just up the road', is never a good option!).
Ok, so we have now got our train tickets booked to Chiang Mai in 2 days - a 2nd class sleeper (you'll find out about this later i'm sure).
We then headed back to Siam Square and wandered round the huge malls. We sent a postcard to Dave's gran that is supposed to take 10 days, so here's counting.
MBK mall is like a giant Nelson Arndale, no big name shops, just thousands of little stalls. Paragon however was like a shopping centre from the future. So much fun going between the 5 floors - do we take the huge glass elevators for the view? Do we take the elevators that have 3D Tv's in the corner where things jump out at you? We cant take the escalators because they aren't working - No wait, they are automatic escalators that only work once you've stood on them! WOW!
So after travellling up and down and getting lost a few times we went to the pics again and saw The Flock (good but a little disturbing). Also, now that we're Thai cinema pros it's funny watching other people not knowing what the hell is going on when everyone stands up for the national anthem!
We found a great little quite reasonably priced restaurant serving Italian food - wanted to treat ourselves! The food was fantastic and to make it even nicer, they add on the 10% service charge and 7% VAT right before they give you the bill - Brilliant for a couple of budget backpackers like ourselves who are counting pennies just before the meal.
Got back at about 12.30 to find that our washing (including our sleeping bag sheets) hadn't been done to our earlier agreed deadline of 8o'clock. The girl on reception was great though - she managed not to get upset at all, in fact she laughed when telling us we wouldnt get it back till tomorrow. Bless.
So off to bed with just an old mattress to sleep on.
