Started the morning bright and early and went for a walk round the area. Jet lag started to kick in though and after David got us lost we decided to head back for a half hour kip...4 hours later we realised we had missed most of the day.
Feeling more awake we ventured to the riverside and bought tickets for a long tail boat to take us down the Mae Nam Chao Phraya (River). Along with several other tourists we boarded the first boat that came, not realising that this was actually just a boat to take people to the other side of the river. We then had to wait 15minutes and pay 10baht to a woman who for some reason had a coin lodged in her ear for the boat to bring us back to where we started!
After getting on the correct boat which was full of young Thai Monks, we jumped off at the Grand Palace. It was too late to go inside but looked amazing from outside the walls - hopefully get to see it before we leave.
Starving and thirsty with not eating for 24hours we went to get some food. David ordered beef in garlic (delicious!) and Claire ordered a club sandwich, not very Thai but really tasty, especially with the chips covered in sugar instead of salt and nearly ruined by fish sauce instead of vinegar - one lesson we have learnt, always taste test first!
Headed back to the guest house for an early night hoping to see the sights tomorrow.
