We've finally got our car! It's a Holden Commodore wagon, which is basically a really big estate car (with a 3.8ltr V6 engine) that we can sleep in the back of. We've also got a small tent that we can use at campsites, and have some bought some camping equipment that we got discount on by signing up to a store card. We got the car pretty cheap, $2600 because we bought it wholesale instead of from a retail garage, which just basically meant that we had to clean it ourselves and in doing so we saved about $1000, so we're pretty happy with that! We're going to head up the coast next week to see a bit of Outback Australia, so we're happy to have the car all sorted out this week and to have more time to explore around Perth next week without needing to use the buses. Joel has had to fix a couple of things on the car as well, mainly getting the boot to actually lock, but it's all sorted now so we're ready for our road trip! Joel has done all of the actual driving so far, but I've had a little go in the back streets when there was nobody around and I haven't hit anything so it's all good so far, and I'll hopefully be confident enough to drive on the proper roads soon.
