We had what I guess you could call a wasted couple of days when we went further north. The plan had been to drive up to Broome, as loads of people had told us it was a great place to visit, so we set out from Coral Bay and drove 363 miles north to Karratha. It was extremely hot when we got there, around 40 degrees, and just when we were discussing driving a couple of hours further to Port Headland, the air con in the car stopped working and the car engine cut out! Luckily we were in the car park of the Visitors Centre (unfortunately closed on Saturday afternoons), so we sat around for a while waiting for the car to cool down, and once it started up again we went to find a campsite. We were hoping the car would fix itself, which it seemed to, and we spent the afternoon in the pool at the campsite trying to keep ourselves cool! The evening wasn't so great though, as when we went to the camp kitchen to make ourselves a drink we found out that someone had stolen half of our food from the fridge! We've stayed in loads of campsites so far, all with communal cooking areas, and we hadn't had any problems before, so this somewhat tainted our view of the area, and based on how hot it was (too hot for us!) we decided to turn around and head back down south the next day to slightly cooler temperatures. A short but not so sweet trip into Australia's North West, but we have to say the landscapes and the colours during the drive were really amazing!
