We left Mandurah and drove north to Rockingham, the last stop on our camping road trip around WA! Once we got there we visited the shopping centre to have a look around the shops, before driving to the town centre to have a look around. we also had a really delicious cake and coffee at a cafe on the seafront. The next day we got up early to visit Penguin Island, an island 5 minutes off the coast of Rockingham which is home to 1000 Little Penguins - the smallest penguins in the world, in the furthest north colony in Australia. On the short ferry crossing to the island we saw our first Austrlian sea lion swimming near the boat, which was great as they are the rarest sea lions in the world. Once on the island we headed to the discovery centre to see the penguin feeding, and got to see our first penguins who were so cute and really tiny! After that headed back to the jetty to go on our Penguin and Sea Lion cruise - as we set off we saw a pod of dolphins right by the boat, which we followed for a while, before going over to Seal Island to see some more Austrlian Sea Lions up close - it was really good fun and we learnt loads. Once we were back on the island we hopped back across to the mainland for lunch, before catching the ferry back to the island and going on a 2km walk all around it - we saw loads of sea birds and the views were great. We even managed to have time to visit the discovery centre again to see the penguins once more before we left. The next day we went down to Secret Harbour again to try to hire surfboard, but unfortunately the surf company wasn't there. So we headed up to Cape Peron, which had great views but was very windy. In the afternoon we decided to go to the cinema to finally watch the new Hunger Games film, because we had a voucher to get cheap reclining seats - the film was good and the seats were amazing! The next day we went down to the seafront to see the Catalpa Memorial, before getting another delicious cake and coffee at a beachside cafe. We had another voucher for the cinema, so we went back again in the afternoon to watch Horrible Bosses 2, before heading back to the campsite for our last night cooking outside on our camp stove (for the time being at least).
