So my residence....
Unfortunately, the university as part of being hospitable, put me in a residence that is far away from campus and halfway up a mountain!
Last night, I walked the whole way up with two grocery bags, and I nearly died.. that's how far up it is!
But with that comes a great view!
The other crappy thing about the residence.. is the 18th century unisex urinal toilet.... it's literally a hole in the floor. At first I was shocked.. I even asked my neighbour if that was for boys and girls, and he just laughed at me.
But it's not that bad.. and it's really only for 5-6 months, so it should be fine.
Tonight we had a historic tour of Grenoble.. I learned so many cool facts about the city.
The french revolution started here and we saw the spot where they used to do the executons. Despite being completely surrounded by mountains, it's actually the flattest city in France.
There's a cafe here, that has been in operation since 1739 making it the second oldest cafe in all of France.
There's a lot to see here, and the streets are so small and charming, I'll be uploading some nice photos one we get a sunny day... at the moment it's cloudy and snowy.. not the best weather for taking pictures.
After the tour, a bunch of the international students went to a cafe, and I had a real french café-au-lait.. it was delicious! It was amazing to meet people from so many different countries.. and even though we all speak different native languages, we all can talk in french!
And I signed up for a trip! So I will be going cross country skiing next weekend!
