We woke up at the rest area with no showers, minging toilets and no power... But with more money in our pockets! I guess this is real travelling! We cooked scrambled eggs and baked beans on our little camp gas stove which was really nice, I've missed my cooked breakfasts. We set off at about 9 and hit the open road. We have to drive on the A1 road, The Bruce Highway pretty much the whole way down to Sydney, easy peasy! However, clearly not that easy as I managed to get pulled over by the police for speeding! I was so nervous!! I've never been pulled over before, especially not in a foreign country. After my best attempts at sweet talking and Sarah's best flirting techniques, we got ourselves out of getting a $260 fine! Score! I was still breathalysed but it was all good! Phew, that was a close shave but needless to say we had traffic backed up behind us for the rest of the journey! Our first stop was Townsville, it was a nice little town but there wasn't much there so we grabbed lunch, went down to the beach to have a little look and then headed back onto the road. We carried on driving until we saw a look out point sign on the side of the road. We decided to take a look. We started to drive up quite a steep hill until we got to a sign which said 'no caravans' so thought it was best to leave Paul and walk up the hill. However, we're clearly not use to Oz yet as this hill was huge, very steep, it was about 30 degrees, we had no water or suncream and were wearing flip flops in a snake infested area, Fab! Luckily for us, a couple in another campervan drove passed and asked if we wanted a lift, turned out they were from Birmingham and were living in Oz for a year. So finally we got to the top and thank god we did as the views were incredible!!! We saw two wollabys, they came right up close to us! Once we finished at the look out, we hit the road again! We then stopped about two hours later to make dinner at a rest point. We cooked Spag Bol on the gas stove which was really good! Then onto Bowen! Beach day tomorrow!
