Made into Gregory National park. Camping on the East Baines River, at Bullita Camping ground. Enjoyed 2 days of exploring and 4wding around the park. Beautiful black rock escarpments, very rugged, dry and rocky. Enjoyed a talk from the ranger on the history of Bullita Station, and the stories of the men and women trying to run cattle in this harsh environment.
After Gregory we headed into Keep River National Park. The Monks stayed at Timber Creek to catch up with Johns Aunty. Again -it felt like we were leaving half our family behind, as we waved goodbye for 24 hrs!
Keep River is a lovely spot, hardly anyone there. Beautiful backdrop of beehive rock formations. Kids managed a bit of school work, and to build a great fire. We woke early and did a 7km walk, to a lookout, and walked amongst the beehive formations, palm trees, and rock art. Kids all happy to get up early and walk-with the promise of bacon and eggs when back!
