Wow-remote driving now!! Quick drive from Ceduna, to Port Augusta, then into Coober Pedy. Bizarre driving into Coober Pedy-with all the little mounds of mine dirt, 50kms before the town. And nothing else!! The town itself is desolate, dry, and it was hot!! We were all loving feeling the sun on our backs again. We ditched the camper trailers for the night and booked into the underground motel!! A motel built into the side of a mountain, the inside being cave like-exposed rock. We then set off to explore the town, ventured into an original opal mine, which was small and dusty!! Good history lesson for the kids. Also got to tour the underground house-which was home to a family of Opal miners. Headed to "Johns pizza " for dinner (recommended by the locals). Craig and I enjoyed a "coat of arms" pizza-with emu and kangaroo, Brie cheese, baby spinach and cranberry sauce-it was divine!!!
A good nights sleep, in the quiet cave, then a slow start-on our way to Uluru. Still loving holidays!!!
