Today we were off to explore the city centre of Bristol. It was only a short bus ride into town where we firstly walked along a street given over to graffiti murals as Bristol is the home of Banksy the street artist. Wandering down towards the harbour side we stopped for a coffee stop at the Whetherspoons & to give Harry some food before we went to learn more about Bristol at the M-Shed which had a couple more painted statues of Grommit from Wallace & Grommit which is also from Bristol. There are 60 Grommits around the city centre & over the course of the day we saw 13 which Harry was super squealy excited about. Finally it was adult lunch time so we walked up past the town hall & the fancy old Bristol university to another Whetherspoons pub. Sue & I shared a jug of Pimms to go with our burgers- yum!! It was the Hot Air Ballon Fiesta so we walked to the suburb of Clifton & found a spot on the terrace at the back of the White Lion to watch the Red Arrow Jets fly over head & put on a bit of a sky show. The terrace looked over Brunel's suspension bridge so this was our next stop. Of course Sean had to go down the Donkey Slide (a smooth section of rock which you can slide down) but he wouldn't do it unless I did so I went down first. Sean & I walked half way across the bridge while Sue & Paul took Harry to the playground. Mind you, it was a bit of an unnerving walk out onto the bridge as there is a very steep drop to the road & river below. Our final stop for the day was an old Tutor pub with a bit of a lean to it called the Llandoger Trow which is also supposed to be haunted. It was nearly 7pm by the time we got the bus back to Sue's for another quiet night with just a bit of a picnic for dinner after our big pub lunch. We had to be up early in the morning for our flight to Ireland so we were in bed soon after 10pm.
