After a very filling cooked breakfast at the B&B we head off for Aberystwyth to get a 10.30 train but about half way there we realised we would probably not get there in time so headed towards Barmouth to do part of the Mawddach estuary walk. We saw a sign for a different little railway in Fairbourne so headed there to take a very small train at about 10 km's an hour along to the mouth of the estuary just across from Barmouth, then after a short walk around the sand dunes back to Fairbourne. From here we drove up the estuary about a third of the way to find a park so we could do a bit of a walk up the waterside path. There were a lot of people with bikes & a few walkers on the old railway line path- we went for about an hour before jumping in the car again to make the long drive to Cardiff. As google maps tried to take us down a small lane as part of the route we ended up heading a little out of the way so had a quick lunch at MacDonald's in Newtown before finishing the rest of the journey over the Breacon Beacons to Cardiff. We dropped the car off at Avis just behind the stadium & then walked through town (with its big shipping centre & many shopping streets) to the Ibis to check in. Being b*****ed after a day in the car we chilled out and only ventured next door to the Thai restaurant for a real green chicken curry & pad Thai for dinner.
