Today's stop was Bergen & being a larger city we were parked a little out of the very centre of town but just near the Bergenhus (castle & fort) which was our first stop for a look as we walked into town. Close by was the area Bergen is famous for - Bryggen. Dating from 1702 onwards the Bryggen wooden merchants buildings stand shoulder to shoulder in pastel colours facing out to the harbour. The ship wasn't due to dock in Alesund until 10am so we enjoyed a bit of a sleep in then wandered off the ship just after getting in. Once again there were overpriced hop-on hop-off buses on offer for all the lazy oldies off the ship but we were more than happy to walk, especially as the ship was once again right in the centre of town. Having picked up a pilot about midnight to guide us during the night through Norway's longest fjord we woke up to the ship in port at Flam at the very tip of a side arm to the main fjord. It was a cute little town of only 450 people with sheer cliffs rising each side of the calm waters of the fjord.
