It was a rainy day today so we had planned our day on transport well. Today we were making our way to De Kusstram (the coast tram) which runs 68 km's and is the longest tram line in the world. We took the train to Knokke on Belgium's north coast, just 20mins from Brugge then straight onto the tram which only cost €2 each all the way to the southern end at De Panne. Once we got organised this morning we made sure we checked the street side maps whenever we passed one so that we didn't get lost again finding our way into the centre of Brugge. Passing a couple of colossal churches which tower above the city scape we finally made it to the Grot Markt of Brugge which was actually having a market day of fresh produce. Although we had to make it to Brugge by tonight we ended up spending most of the day in Brussels seeing the sights. The supermarket in the station was doing renovations so they weren't much good for breakfast stuff so we checked out then got a quick breakfast in a cafe at the station. We had been thinking all week that our train today was in the morning so when we double checked & found it was at 14.04 we had plenty of time in the morning but only managed to go for a walk along the Thames to the Houses of Parliament & past Big Ben then back to the hotel for noon checkout. We once again took the tube back to St Pancras for our Eurostar train to Brussels although we still had a bit of time on our hands so I grabbed some lunch & snack...
