We had the morning to see some more of Barcelona and decided to see Park Guell, another Gaudi creation which he had set out to be a utopian community but he passed away before it was finished. Just a few metro stops and then it was uphill to the side entrance of the park but luckily the steep street had escalators which ran up the middle! The park was quite busy but a nice place to meander around as it was well maintained and cool in the shade. Some of the structures Gaudi & others built were some strange viaducts, a couple of more tamely designed houses & an over the top mosaic-ed staircase. From the front entrance of the park it was a downhill walk to another nearby metro station and back to Catalunya square from where I went and did some shopping, but found nothing to buy & Sean went to Bracafe where I met him afterwards before we went to get our bags & head to Sants station for our train to Madrid. To get to the high speed platforms our bags had to go through security & our tickets were checked like a airport. We had just booked second class for this train which was still fancy enough except our seats weren't next to a window. The 2.5hr trip went pretty quickly and then it was just a short walk across the road to our hotel. Being dinner time we found a place around the corner for a basic spag bol & then returned to our hotel.
