Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Arrived in Glasgow to a bleak, wet evening. My host Alison collects me from the airport and its not long before we arrive at her apartment. Its a nice apartment about 3ks from the city. As its late i head to bed.
What a glorious day for Glasgow. Its sunny and will get to 24C. Now thats a heat wave for here. My day is spent visiting the Glasgow Cathedral, The Necropolis, Buchanan Street mall and more. The city gardens are packed with people basking in the sunshine.
Covered a fair bit of ground today and the city is certainly rich in history. Some very nice old buildings and bridges. The weather for saturday is rain and storms, which is probably normal.
Yes it rained a lot last night and early this morning, but the day turned out to be nice. Did lots of walking and came across a huge parade by the orange order. Lucky for me i did not see any of the expected violence that can happen at these parades. The parks here are ever so green probably something to do with all the rain. Was a great day, but my legs and feet were telling me they have done enough walking, so i dont plan to do much tomorrow.
Alison has asked me to join her for a drive into the country to visit an old friend, plus she wants to show me some of the Scottish countryside. The day is not the best as its very cloudy and is raining, however i still get to see some very pretty sights. Alison's friend, Anne live in a 400 year old cottage that she has spent the last 30 years slowing bringing it up to a liveable standard. Its is certainly not big, but she has done a neat job. We have some afternoon tea and cake before heading back to Glasgow via a different route to see more scenery. We drive past Lock Ard, a very pretty lake. The different shades of green everywhere never ceases to amaze.
My last day was spent in the city making sure i saw as much as i could. Did a long walk to the Tall ship museum, then a tour of city hall. Another great day in Scotland.
Alison has been a lovely host, and lucky for me she hasnt a very strong scottish accent. There have been people that i have overheard, and not been able to understand one word. Tomorrow i am on a short train ride to Edinburgh
