Brenton Kovacs's Travels
The train ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh was very short, 1 hour. The walk to my new accommodation was about 2ks, lucky it was not raining. After unpacking and grabbing some lunch i ventured out to see the main shopping streets first. It wasnt long before the rain came down. Lucky i had an umbrella with me. So far the city looks ok, but will do more exploring tomorrow.
I am awoken by glorious sunlight streaming into my room. It seems most people here dont use blackout curtains. Even my host Fiona tells me she sleeps with the blinds up.
Better not waste time as its bound to cloud over and rain, typical Scotland. Well yes it does rain, but not before i take in the city sights. Lots to see here and plenty of lovely green space. Its a good city for walking, except the rather steep lanes near the Edinburgh Castle.
The next few days are spent wandering the streets in all directions. Was lucky with the weather as there was plenty of sunshine and little rain, but it can also get very cloudy at times.
Parts of the city are dirty and other parts are spotless. The city is quite multi cultural with lots of immigrants living here.
On my last day i spend it relaxing around the city centre in the lovely green space and doing some people watching. There is a lot happening in and around the city, as a lot of festivals are about to get under way next week. I was told the population of Edinburgh doubles over the next few weeks, so i am glad i wont be here for the chaos. Fiona tells me a lot of the local leave home and travel while the events are on.
My legs are starting to feel very tired and sore. I think i have either overdone the walking or just showing my age. I think i need to rest up for a few days when i get to Amsterdam. Might even buy a used bicycle and bike it around the city.
