Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Now Granada and Valencia are not that well connected by public transport. The train was pretty much out of the question. The bus was my next option. 10 hours to do 500ks. The bus departs at 10am and arrives at 8pm. Not the best. My last option was blablacar, its a ride share. So i booked a ride with Fernando who was leaving at 8am and should arrive at Valencia at 2pm. But having used blablacar before, the drivers seem to be unreliable. But i liked the idea of 5 hours vs 10 hours.
So anyway Fernando arrives 15 minutes late, and already has some people in the car. Its not long before we are on the highway going 140kph in a 120kph zone. Not much i can do about this so i enjoy the scenery before nodding off. Turns out i slept for over half of the trip. We arrive in Valencia on time and i bid my companions adios.
Lucky for me its only a short walk, 750 metres to my accommodation, which i have to say is really nice. Seeing it is Sunday, and everything is meant to be shut according to the internet, i wander out to find that most shops are open. So after finding a supermarket and gathering some supplies i head back to make tea.
After tea i head out and find the streets very busy with people out walking on a beautiful cool evening. Now i have only been here a few hours, but i feel that the city has a lot to offer, and cant wait to see more of it after a good sleep.
Waking up without having any tooth pain, and my head cold nearly gone, i feel pretty good, well a lot better than i have been for the last few days. It seems all the drugs i have been taking have fought off the infection in my lower jaw, plus helped in fighting my cold. So today i really appreciate being nearly back to good health.
Valencia is a great walking city with a lot of interesting and unique buildings. Plus the old river bed of the Turia river has been transformed into a wonderful green belt area. Such a nice place to walk and enjoy the lush green park.
Next stop is Madrid for a day before heading to the north of Spain
