Brenton Kovacs's Travels
A nice short bus ride to Granada, but i managed to fall asleep and not see the scenery. My first night in Granada did not start well. I had to make a dash to the hospital emergency department at 1am with a massive tooth ache. I thought i could ride it out till the morning, but the pain was so intense i had no choice but to seek medical attention. I wont go into the details at the hospital but i am sure you will understand the problem i would have had when no one speaks english.
The only funny side was when i was admitted to a consult room the nurse motioned me to drop my pants. I told her and pointed to my teeth. She laughed and managed to tell me it was a pain killing injection she was going to give me in the backside.
After waiting there for 4 hours i finally met a doctor who spoke basic english and he gave me a script for so medicine. The walk back to the apartment at 5am when it was on 2 degrees was bone chilly as i was not dressed appropriately.
So not much activity was going to happen over the next few days, nursing a head cold and massive swelling on my left lower jaw. Turns out i had some sort of infection from a root canal that was started in Vienna.
My last day in Valencia is just magnificent. Its a Saturday, the weather is perfect and the city has a wonderful vibrant feel to it. As one walks through the old town, the little courtyards where multiple lanes meet there are musicians playing quietly. The larger alleys have Spanish bands playing and usually attract a large crowd. They too play quietly, thus drawing the crowd in a lot closer. All the musicians were talented to say the least. Even came across a quartet of violinists and a cello playing to adorning crowds who were receiving huge applause's.
I finish the afternoon off on the rooftop of my building sipping on a cup of tea in a super comfy chair, where i take in the views of the Alhambra and the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains and the birds singing. Such a wonderful place. I will certainly miss Granada.
Next stop Valencia.
