Re-run of a beautiful sunny and warm day. After hitting the fitness center, (2 more tortilla chips burned) we spent the morning doing the 9-mile Mission Trail (in the car). The trail starts at the Alamo and continues south through San Antonio to 4 other missions: Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada. Being a California girl, I have been to many of the missions in California, but this was a first for Texas missions. Concepcion and San Jose are the largest, and all except the Alamo are Catholic parishes still today. The Spaniards built an aqueduct system that reached all of the missions and irrigated their fields. It is the oldest Spanish aqueduct in the US. We managed to work up an appetite and found the very best Tex-Mex of our trip..Nicha's by the San Jose Mission. Tamales like they are supposed to be, tortillas like from a bakery, yummy enchiladas and salsa! We hit the Mexican Market, which would have been fun if we hadn't been to Mexico before. Lots of crafts and silver, but nothing unusual...just a couple of funny T-shirts, like...I Flunked Anger Management and My Anger Management Class Pisses Me Off! Made me think of a couple of people...you know who you are! Lol! We plan on having a beverage or two on the Riverwalk tonight and then some more Texas BBQ. Tomorrow we head to Big Bend National Park and will be without cels, Internet, or TV for 3 days. I have assured Larry he can make it without TV...am wondering about me and the net! So...I will catch up after we return to civilization. Thanks to all of you who are enjoying our notes and pictures, or at least you say you are...lol. We are having a great time! Adios!
