This morning we did some routine car stuff, or so we thought. Went to a Jiffy lube and Larry ended up having to call Freddie, our Tybee mechanic to figure out how to keep the oil filter from leaking. Are you kidding me? We headed down Route 66 to see the 10 Cadillacs that were inserted into the ground at the Cadillac Ranch. Lots of spray paint added by lots of tourists! What an eccentric Texan! From there, we went to Palo Duro State Park, Texas' Grand Canyon. Another beautiful park. The road takes you to the bottom of the canyon. We had a perfectly blue sky and temperature was in the high 50s so we took a lengthy hike to see the Lighthouse formation. Larry thinks we walked off more than 4 bites of our steaks last night, me...I'm not sure! The trail still had some snowy patches but it was soooo beautiful. We sure had some red muddy boots! we made a stop at Ganders...nope, didn't buy anything!!! Back to the Big Texan motel...did I mention there is a horse hotel here, too? We washed some clothes and went to Jorge's Taco Garcia. I don't know how it is possible, but the Tex-Mex just keeps getting better. Our buddy we met in Balmorhea sure had it right...the good Mexican cooks are in the west, the ones who can't cook are in the East! Our last night in Texas and we enjoyed watching the X Factor...geez...I want them all to win!
