Another school morning including a Daddy science lesson before taking Daniel's "Sea Hawk 2" onto the lake. As the lake was so big we rowed close to the shoreline trying to avoid usual obstacles such as rocks and boats but also unusual obstacles such as teenage boys hitting golf balls into the lake!!!
The 2-man boat with myself, Daniel and Megan is quite cramped so after a while everyone starts getting a bit restless. To create some room, I decided to jump overboard into the lake and swim to shore. The children seemed a bit shocked I had left them (albeit wearing life jackets) that they started working well as a team to bring the boat back into the lake harbour.
We then cycled into Leksand for the 6pm pre-midsummer raising of the maypole. When we arrived, we wondered why there were so many fire engines and fire trucks everywhere. It was only later that we realized it was the firemen raising the maypole (over 20 metres) in a traditional manner. This old method takes at least 30 minutes and it appeared to us at times it could easily fall at any moment!!
Eventually it was up, everyone cheered then danced around the maypole. We then cycled back to the campsite for pork chops on the BBQ.
