Arrived in Rapid City (just outside Black Hills) expecting to find a hotel very quickly and cheap. When we were quoted $300 we knew something was up.....It turned out to be the Sturgis Motor Cyle Rally, the largest in the world where over 500,000 bikes and a million people desend on a few small towns around the area. We ended up camping again, this time in a field of bikers. They were actually very friendly and refused to let us go to the pool instead gave us steak and beer.

Next morning we got up early (to beat the bikes) and headed to Mount Rushmore. Its quite strange but impressive. Then we were told about another monument called 'Crazy Horse'. No idea what it was we decided to go and look anyway. Got there and it wasn't even finished. It is going to be a massive carving into the mountain like Mount Rushmore but on a much bigger scale and for the Native Indian Population. After 60 years they have only completed the head but we did see a smaller statue of what it is going to look like.

Then headed to the caves which at the moment are the second largest in the world at 150 miles long, but with so much being discovered all the time they reckon its going to be the largest by a very long way (thousands of miles). Caves are caves.........dark and cold!!!!!!

Then drove needles highway a very scenic route which is very dangerous to drive especially when your in a big van and the road fits one car, plus bikes where everywhere. You drive through parts of the mountain which were only eight foot wide!!!!!!
