Well we arrived safe and sound in San Francisco on the 14 September. The Flight over was good although neither of us got much sleep.. We landed at 2.30pm and walked out to brilliant sunshine. We had a lovely afternoon catching up with Duncan and Zoe at their new home in San Jose but only managed to stay awake until 9pm before the jet lag kicked in.

Next morning up early 5am! packed our bag and went on our first American road trip to South Lake Tahoe. We spent the afternoon kayaking on the lake which was just stunning, crystal clear waters but freezing especially when soaked by your wonderful husband's padal..... all accidents of course! We stayed at the Montblue Hotel which was lovely it even had a jacuzzi bath in the bedroom..... video to follow! (only joking!).

That evening the four of us had a meal out at the Stateline Bewery which was amazing. Ben had American Spare Ribs (I've never seen so much meat on a plate). I had tuna, cooked to perfection. Then it was time to hit the hotel casino....

After playing a bit of Black Jack to get warmed up we hit the Craps table . After Several free drinks Ben still had no idea what was going on but the money was coming in, especially once he started his horn bets!! By the end of the night I was sneaking chips from his pile and we were up $100. We left Duncan and Zoe playing and Dunc insisted he only stayed up another hour but some how he ended the night up $200!!! Glovers 2 Casino 0......

Next day we took the gondola to 9000 feet and then took the Tamarack chair lift a futher 500 feet. Ben was struggling at this point hanging on for dear life, the colour draining from his face the higher we got.

The views on the way up the mountain were just amazing, it was such a clear day and you coud feel the change in altitude. It was also great to see where Duncan and Zoe go snowboarding in the winter.

On our drive home we went via Emerald Bay which was stunning.

We are off to San Fran today and time to pick up our home for the next month...
