We were both a little sad to be leaving Yellowstone but as soon as we hit the first bend in Snake River and the Teton mountains came into view, Yellowstone seemed like a distant memory.... Thats not strictly true but the Tetons are the most beautiful mountain range you could ever imagine. They are so big and in your face and can be viewed from everywhere in the park, they actually look like they have been painted onto the sky.
The first day we spent driving around the park and had a rather over priced lunch at the Jackson Lake Lodge, its the first time we have eaten anywhere in the US where we couldn't have had one sandwich between us!! However, they did have the best view of the Tetons around and we blagged an hour of free internet use so every cloud!!!
On our second day Ben was up early for sunrise and iconic photo destinatons, which meant I was up too.. but on the bright Emma i'm getting through your books!!!
Once it warmed up and it has been cold.... we headed to Jenny Lake where we did a beautiful hike around the lake and up to an area called Cascade Canyon before getting the Boat back across the lake.
That night we stayed at Gros Venture campsite, we pulled up into our pitch and there was a group of people we rather large cameras about ten yeards in front of us. We went to investigate and couldn't believe our luck, there was two female and one male Moose just sat by the river sunning themselves. Amazing we driven all that way and all we had to do was pick the right campsite!
That night we went to a local bar called Dornans which had an upper terrace and we watched the sun go down over the Tetons, with a bottle of Snake River each and a plate of nachos, heaven what a day.....
Ben didn't get much sleep that night as he was over excited by the prospect of another Moose encounter. He was not disappointed as he and a few other people followed the Bull the next morning along the river. As you can imagine the Moose was not best pleased and it wasn't long before Ben was running from yet another wild animal.
As Grand Teton faded behind us and Jackson Town came into view we both said that we wished we had a little longer as Grand Teton it has a very different feel to Yellowstone and is a place we could spend a lot more time.
Jackson was ok at best, we went to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, sat on the saddle seats at the bar and had a beer along with all the other tourists.
After that we began our journey South next stop Bryce Canyon.
