On the drive to Vegas we stopped off at the world famous Hoover Dam which is really impressive and stops the water and everything...
Anyway we have been sleeping in the back of a car for a month and we haven't showered for two days so we went to Starbucks to use free wifi to see how much an extra night in Vegas would cost..... I think its the best $32 we have spent the whole trip! Especially when our room gets upgraded (thanks Mum, Dad, Dunc and Zoe). The second best $32 we spent was on the Ballaggio gourmet buffet, but we will get to that later!
Once checked in and after washing, feeling human again we headed for the slots and bright lights of Vegas Baby....
Vegas was great fun, we walked miles learnt how to play crapps, (i think) love the horn but not sure it loves me! Elton John and his Million Dollar Piano was fantastic although, neither of us have ever been to a concert where the entire audience stays seated. Well Nikki got up and danced!! I sat mesmerised by the elderly percussionist banging away on his bongos. It was the best concert I have ever been to and the colosseum was awesome.
All the themed hotels are so well done you totally buy into the whole experience, Paris and the Venetian are the best two and you really could be in either of those citities rather than the middle of the desert. The Bellaggio is a beautiful hotel and our favourite, on the advice of others we decided to pay a visit to their buffet. For $30 each we stuffed ourselves with as much food as we could eat and as much champers as we could drink..... It was some of the nicest food we have eaten in America with delights such as, snow crab legs, kobi beef, rack of lamb, topside of beef, sushi, king prawns and far too many desserts to list.
Other highlights included seeing the lions at MGM Grand, the dolphins at the Mirage, the Bellaggio fountains, Elvis lookalikes and the cupcakery in the Monte Carlo, who would think chocolate and peanut butter would go together so well!
Eventually our time in Vegas came to an end so we squeezed ourselves back into Ray Ray and set off again, next stop Death Valley.
