Arrived yesterday at the North Rim Grand Canyon campsite, drove 40 miles through the most beautiful forest and meadows (no bears thankfully, nothing for them to eat in this area apparently, Bens gutted!)

Got checked into our site and then took the Bright Angel trail to the North Rim Lodge and Bright Angel Point for our first view of the Grand Canyon. The trail goes through woodland and gives you many little glimpses of the canyon, so we spent a mile and a half looking at our feet whilst walking but it was well worth it as the picture above was our first view!

We spent sometime at the lodge waiting for the sun to go down whilst having a well earned beer....Ben got the munchies and decided he needed food at 5.45pm so we ordered a pizza which took 20 minutes to come and by the time we had eaten the sun was almost set! But we did managed to catch the last few moments......

After that we headed to the Saloon Bar to watch Woody and Cleda Jane the authentic Country & Western Singers peform. We don't know if it was a quiet night for them or he was just trying to sell us a CD but at the interval Woody came and talked to us and i think... we are going for a night out in Vegas with them!! We just have to call them when we get there.

This morning was the first where we got up and it wasn't freezing so headed out to do the Point Imperial trail an easy four mile round trip. Or thats if you believe the American millage measuring system!!! It felt like ten miles but was probably six, no way was it ever four. It was a lovely walk but we are both knackered!

After that we drove up to Cape Royal point and thank good for left over take away pizza, it never tasted so good! The views from here have been the best so far.

Tonight will be a quieter affair with dinner at the campsite and early to bed!
