Arrived in Bryce after a very long straight drive, it felt like it took forever to get here and its was a cool 98F. We managed to check into the North campsite $15 a night bargin but no showers! However, it was right on the rim of the canyon.
That night when the sun started to go down we went up to Bryce Point to get our first real view of the whole canyon. Its impressive the rock formations don't look real, it looks like a Hollywood Cowboy movie back drop! Although, we suspect we might be saying that a few times in the next week.
Next morning we were up early ready for our day of walking in the canyon. We set off from the campsite and headed to sunrise points where we dropped down onto the Navejo trail, which winds it way down through a slot canyon. We walked through the canyon floor and came back up at Bryce Point a fall and climb of 1500ft. Once back at the top we walked back along the rim and dropped down at Sunset point and along the Queens Garden trail, before ascending back to where we started at sunrise a mere 500ft. However, by the time we descended it was midday and it was baking!! So the last part of the walk was about ten times harder than the first part even though it was only a third of the climb. In total we walked about 7 miles in and around the canyon and we both looked a little red by the time we finished but it was a great walk.
Next stop North Rim Grand Canyon.

Sheila Bryce Canyon looks sooooo amazing, particularly so when you are stuck in the office! Ah well, one more place to add to my dream places to visit list.
