Four miles further down the canal iunder a grey and drizzly sky and through the last locks before the Sea lock brought us to Seaport Marina in Muirtown Basin, on the outskirts of Inverness. We had spent some time on the mobile over the previous few days trying to work out where we could leave Vega for a period until Cath's surgery etc was over and we could plan to move on and complete our planned circumnavigation. Seaport came up with an offer, but subject to severe review, as they have a long waiting list for permanent berths. However, we were happy to take what we could get, and at midday we passed trhough the Tomnahurich swing bridge, refuelled, and were safely tucked up on the furthest pontoon berth from the excellent facilities. We had travelled around 1400 NM (about 1600 statute miles) since May, and only about 700 or so to go (at a guess) to finish! We cleaned up and went into the town for the evening and found a pub with live music, but horror of horrors! It was Gordon again (from the Bothy at Fort Augustus)! The pub meal was Ok though, and we then found the REAL Scottish Music at the Hootananny pub, which we visited more than once since. We walked back to the marina tired but content to have made a safe haven. One more treat was in store: we had arranged to meet Delta Force if possible this holiday weekend, and Iain and Susan Dow had gamely said they would fly up and see us the next day.
