We left Alice Springs today and travelled north to Devils Marbles. The landscape was once again fairly barren.

The Devils Marbles were spectacular. About 1700 million years ago molten magma squeezed through ancient sandstone of the earth's crust and cooled into hard granite, the Devils Marbles granite. The granite then cooled to form the shapes and cracks on formation. Eventually after water subsided and erosion softer clays and rocks were swept away to form the boulders we see today. You could spend all day just walking in different directions following tracks worn from others.

About 30 caravans, tents and camper trailers camped in amongst the marbles in a set area. An amazing place to sleep. Another campfire, more marshmallows!
