Today was an amazing day spent exploring the West McDonnell Ranges.

We decided late to leave our camp site at Glen Helen to have a look at the mountain ranges and gorges whilst venturing towards Alice Springs. Whilst we were packing up a local galah named Mr G ventured to our campsite. Mr G took a liking to Baz. He quickly climbed up his arm, sat on his shoulder and lay his head down flat for a pat. We realised quite quickly that Mr G didn't like either females or children, taking a couple of chunks out of Miss Penny's fingers and ear, and scaring the S#$t out of the children.

Next we visited Ormiston Gorge and walked both to the gorge and the lookout. This was by far our favourite gorge of the day.

We then viewed the Ochre Pits. A sacred site where all colours of ochre were mined for both medicinal and ceremonial purposes.

After a rough drive to the Serpentine Gorge and another walk we finished the day and camp at Ellery Creek Big Hole. Baz was the only one silly/brave enough to have a swim in the waterhole. A lovely remote camp site and another fire (maybe a bottle of red thrown in) to finish the night.
