Walpole WA.
Arrived on Friday about midday, settled into the caravan park, then off to the Info Centre to see what was on offer. People here are very friendly and happy to suggest things to see and do.
There was quite a number of things to choose from so we made a list which was going to take two days to cover. They included a lot of National Park area to see sites such as the Giant Tingle Tree, Valley of the Giants , hugh trees hundreds of years old. Standing on the tree top walk your are 40 metres off the ground and these trees still tower another 30 to 40 metres above you.
After that there are the Circular Pools, Fernhook Falls and the amazing Mt Frankland lookout. WA Parks and Wildlife put a lot of effort and time into the infrastructer with all the tree top and Mt Frankland lookouts and walkways being made of stainless steel material. Then back down to the coastal areas to Conspicuous Beach and Mandalay Beach.
The town of Walpole itself is small scenic holiday resort area surrounded by 18,000 ha. of national park much of which stretches down to the coast.
If you ever come to Walpole do yourslf a favour and go on a WOW eco tour of the Nornalup inlet. Its the best 2 hours you will ever spend.
It's run by Gary Muir who is an enviromental scientist and biologist and what he doesn't know about the area isn't worth knowing.
He tells the information in an exciting, humours, entertaining and interactive way that has everybody spellbound. He is extremely knowledable and passonate about his work.
He uses is a 30 seat twin hull, twin outboard boat which is able to travel in all sorts of conditions safely.
It's certainly one of the attractions not to be missed. WOW WOW WOW is all you can say.
Our time here at Walpole has been well spent and come Monday we move out and onto Margaret River Region.

Lenore Hueppauff Hi Bevan and Annette. I enjoyed reading your nice wrap up of Walpole. The amount of times we have been there, and didn't even know of WOW Eco tours. That's going on my bucket list. Thanks. Lenore
Joy Geaney Sounds great you need to keep a journal so as you can remind us where to go when we make our way back over.
Bob & Bev Bob & Bev, Great to see you are able to take your time travelling, we are going to have to the west again, our last trip was a rush and had a dog. we may well be able to swap the dog for a Ute. Be safe and enjoy.
