Busselton, Geographe Bay WA, where you can walk out on the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. It's 1.8 klms long and at the end there is an underwater observatory which is accessed by an internal spiral staircase. The jetty has a curve built into it so when the new one was built it would meet up with the old jetty.
There is a small train which runs the full length of the jetty which seems to be a bit of a hit with the international tourists.
Of course there is a cost for everythng from just walking the jetty, the train ride and access to the observatory.
Unfortunately when visibility is limited the obsevatory is closed. We went to it for two days to find it was closed and on the third day it only had 3 metre vision so we decided to give it a miss as you would not be able to see anything worth while. We walked out to the end of the jetty which then gave us a good view back to Busselton.
Busselton Info Centre once again was a great place to gather information about the area.
The town is mixture of old and new with once again history dating back to the 1800 hundreds.
Driving around the districts of Yallingup, Dunsborough and the Cape Naturaliste national park revealed more fantistic coastline and small villlages where craft and pottery people made ther products.
After a few days in this area it was time to "hookup and move on". Next stop Mandurah.
