Lay Day.
Regroup at G&T time, then off to dinner and rendezvous with Captain Genghis who is back in Symi on OUR gulet, Tanem. She is moored at our restaurant, looking gorgeous.
Another excellent dinner - seafood risotto loaded with fresh whole prawns, clams on the shell, mussels and fish. Genghis and Captain of the boat sailing with him join us, en route to the local nightclub. Hmmm. I join the boys to hit the local nightlife, Hazel and Emily bail.
The nightclub deserves mention, a tiny bar in a side alley with tables and chairs IN the alley, and miniscule room to dance. Adjacent is a huge screen, the French/Italian soccer match is playing on mute while music from the seventies is blaring. Business is slow. Owner of the nightclub, also the DJ, joins the 3 of us. Talking is of yelling proportions. A blend of Turkish, Greek and English. The boys on mugs of beer, me on a gentle G&T. Patrons of surrounding restaurants, also seated in the alley, enjoying the music and soccer FOC. Dancing? I fight down the impulse, so a waitress gets a gurnsey while she is on duty. It's fun, good being amongst the locals, and 'the boys' are good company.
Thus endeth the day, Saturday night on Symi mixing it with the locals!
