A ridiculously slow start today. We were very happy in our little bay, hidden from the world. A local fisherman putted by & gave a glowing report of his island Lipsos, & proudly displayed the squid he had jagged. A few headed for swims, others another windsurf, rest, including me, dragged ourselves to another groaning breakfast table of fabulous fresh fruit, yoghurt, fetta& parsley stuffed bread, pancakes, 6 different types of jam including the highly popular cherry jam, eggs which ever way you want......
Eventually upped stakes and had a 1.5 hr trio to the village Pythagorea, home of Pythagorus, and another favourite spot of mine. Still stunning, very quiet with tourists, and a chance to visit Christo, my Greek friend married to an Australian lady, who has an exceptional jewellery store now on the waterfront amongst the restaurants.
Last time I was here fell in love with a ring Christo had made but left behind. It was still here 18 months ago when friends I sailed with last time came by, sadly had gone today! Well, still did some damage, but not all for me.
Farewell lunch on board for Toby & Jodie, and welcome to Julia, Susan, Brian and at last MY LUGGAGE!! Strap had been removed, handles trashed, probably been opened, however it appears nothing taken!!
An issue with one of the anchors kept us in port until late, enough time to revisit the main square with memorials to Pythagorus.
Eventually sailed forth to another secluded bay on Samos with promise of good snorkelling and kayaking.
Snorkelling, though few fish, and more than enough sea urchins, plenty if healthy seagrass, interesting rock pools & the colours, changes in depth a treat.
